Introduction to Trimethylolpropane Caprylate/Caprate

Trimethylolpropane octyl-Capric acid ester is a polyol synthetic ester base oil produced by esterification of trimethylolpropane (TMP) with a mixture of fatty acids, including octanoic acid (C8) and capric acid (C10).

 

TMP molecules provide a trimer structure: enhancing thermal stability and oil film strength;C8/C10 medium- and short-chain fatty acids: imparting excellent low-temperature fluidity and moderate viscosity;

While maintaining good high-temperature stability, it achieves extremely low pour point, low viscosity, and high lubricity;

 

Applications in engine oils (core applications):

0W-20 / 0W-16 / 0W-12 fuel-efficient engine oils; PAO-type fully synthetic engine oils; turbocharged / TGDI engine oils (API SP / GF-6).
