Polyol Ester

Polyol esters are compounds formed by the esterification reaction of polyols (alcohols containing multiple hydroxyl groups, such as pentaerythritol and trimethylolpropane) with monocarboxylic acids (acids containing one carboxyl group, such as caproic acid, caprylic acid and pelargonic acid).

Performance characteristics of polyol esters:

  1. Polyol esters have a relatively large molecular weight and complex structure, and contain multiple ester groups. Therefore, their thermal stability, lubrication performance and hydrolysis resistance are better than those of monoesters and diesters.
  2. High viscosity: Polyol esters usually have a relatively high viscosity (such as ISO VG 68 - 320), which is suitable for high - load and high - temperature environments.
  3. Excellent thermal stability: Polyol esters exhibit excellent oxidation stability at high temperatures (>200°C), which is suitable for extreme high - temperature lubrication scenarios.
  4. Good low - temperature fluidity: Polyol esters have a low pour point (-40°C - -60°C), which is suitable for applications in a wide temperature range. - **Excellent lubricating performance**: The polar ester groups of polyol esters can effectively adsorb on the metal surface, providing excellent lubricity and anti - wear performance.
  5.  Excellent hydrolysis resistance: The structure of polyol esters makes them perform better than monoesters and diesters in a hydrolytic environment.
  6. Moderate biodegradability: The biodegradability of polyol esters is lower than that of monoesters but higher than that of mineral oils.

Application scenarios of polyol esters:

  1. Aviation turbine oils: Polyol esters are the main base oils of modern aviation turbine oils due to their excellent thermal stability and low - temperature fluidity.
  2. High - temperature industrial lubricants: Such as high - temperature chain oils, compressor oils and gear oils.
  3.  Automobile engine oils: Polyol esters are used in some high - performance synthetic oils to improve high - temperature performance and fuel economy.
  4.  Refrigeration compressor oils: Polyol esters have good compatibility with refrigerants (such as R134a and R410a) and are widely used in air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

And so on.

Unsaturated polyol ester is an aliphatic polyester that contains non-aromatic unsaturated hydrocarbon chains in its molecular structure. In addition to the ester group, its molecular main chain structure contains unsaturated bonds such as the carbon-carbon double bond, so it has unique unsaturated bond characteristics.lt has excellent high temperature characteristics, good antioxidant stability and low volatility and can be used as cutting oils, stamping and drawing oils, flame resistant hydraulic oils and rolling oils.

Our company provides diesters, unsaturated polyol esters and other synthetic esters. You are welcome to consult us.
