Long-Life High Temp Chain Oil: PAG vs Ester Classification
In the world of industrial lubrication, high-temperature chain oil is not a one-size-fits-all product. When your equipment operates above 150°C, choosing the right synthetic base oil becomes critical. The two dominant classifications that deliver true long-life performance are PAG (Polyalkylene Glycol) and Ester (Synthetic Esters). While both outperform traditional mineral oils, they solve different problems. Understanding their distinct characteristics is key to maximizing uptime and minimizing costs.
PAG: The Self-Cleaning Specialist
PAG-based oils are engineered for environments where cleanliness is paramount. Their most valuable characteristic is a low tendency to form hard carbon deposits.
