Viscosity Index Improvers Explained

Why does your 5W-30 oil work in both winter and summer?

The secret isn't just the base oil. It's a key additive called a Viscosity Index Improver (VII).

Think of them as "smart thickeners."

What they do:

VIIs are long-chain polymers that expand in heat and contract in cold. This keeps your oil viscous enough to protect at 100°C, but fluid enough to pump at -30°C.

The Problem:

Cheap VIIs break down under shear (extreme pressure). When this happens, your oil permanently thins outleading to oil consumption (burning) and loss of protection.

The Solution:

High-quality additive packages use shear-stable VIIs. They last longer, prevent viscosity loss, and extend oil drain intervals.

We have high-quality viscosity index improvers. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.
