The Upgrade Route of Refrigeration Oil: from Mineral Oil to Synthetic Ester

 

Mineral oil refrigeration oil has a relatively low cost, but its molecular structure is complex and its viscosity index is low. It is prone to oxidation during high-temperature operation and has limited fluidity in low-temperature environments, which may lead to insufficient lubrication, waxing or reduced efficiency. As the operating conditions of the refrigeration system become more severe, these problems will be further magnified, affecting the stable operation of the equipment.

In contrast, synthetic ester refrigeration oil, with synthetic ester base oil as its core, features a high viscosity index, excellent low-temperature performance and good thermal stability. Under high-temperature compression conditions, synthetic esters are not prone to decomposition and coking. It can still maintain good fluidity in a low-temperature evaporation environment, which is conducive to rapid oil return and the formation of a stable lubricating oil film. Meanwhile, synthetic ester base oil has good compatibility with a variety of environmentally friendly refrigerants and has become an important lubrication choice for the new generation of refrigeration systems.
