Comprehensive Analysis of Polyether Base Oils
Polyether base oil is a synthetic base oil, mainly produced through the polymerization reaction of ethylene oxide (EO) and propylene oxide (PO). Depending on the polymerization method and end groups, its water solubility, oil solubility, viscosity and other performance indicators can be adjusted. PAG base oil is different from traditional mineral oil and PAO synthetic oil. Its structure contains ether bonds (-O -) and adjustable hydrophilic/hydrophobic segments, which endow it with high polarity, high-temperature stability, low carbon deposition and other properties.
Polyether base oils can mainly be classified into the following categories:
Water-soluble polyether: With a high proportion of EO, it is suitable for water-ethylene glycol hydraulic fluids, metalworking fluids, etc.
Oil-soluble polyether: PO proportion high or terminal base treatment, often used to compressor oil, chain oil etc.
Typical application fields
High temperature chain oil, such as textile setting machine, drying oven, gas compressor oil (applicable to the special gas such as ammonia, CO ₂), refrigeration compressor oil viscosity at low temperature (do well), food grade lubricants (NSF H1 level products are widely used PAG), base oil, metalworking fluids, water - glycol hydraulic oil, high load industrial gear lubrication.
