The Production Process of Ester Oil

Fatty acid refining

Fatty acids are raw materials for synthesizing ester oils, which are obtained by oxidizing paraffin with potassium permanganate. Generally, the production of synthetic lubricating oil requires low-carbon fatty acids of C5 to C10, which are by-products of the soap-making industry.

This low-carbon fatty acid obtained from the by-products of the soap-making industry still contains 20% to 30% high-carbon fatty acids and a small amount of unsaturated double bond oleic acid impurities. Therefore, it must be refined to remove the impurities that affect the product and fractionated into a single-component acid.

Generally, nitric acid is used to oxidize and remove unsaturated substances to improve the antioxidant performance of the product. That is, nitric acid and fatty acids are reflux in an oxidation kettle at 90-95 ℃ for 4 hours to separate the acid residue. Then, it is washed with water and enters a distillation column to be cut into single-component acid.
