The Application of Ester Oils in Compressor Oils
In the application of compressor oil, diesters, polyol esters, phthalates and trimellitic acid esters are commonly used. Ester oils have good lubricity, which can reduce wear and extend the service life of machinery.
Ester-based compressor oil generates less sludge and varnish in the compressed gas. However, the high outlet temperature of modern reciprocating air compressors can easily cause carbon deposits to accumulate on the outlet valve, which can lead to fires and explosions.
Ester oils, especially trimellitic acid esters and polyol esters, have better antioxidant properties and lower volatility than similar mineral oils, reducing the deposits on pistons and turbocharger valves. Therefore, the high-temperature stability and solubility of esters reduce the risk of fire and explosion.
