Ester-based lubricating oil has excellent lubricating performance. Due to the polarity of the ester bond (-COOR) in its molecule, it can adsorb on the friction surface, generating a relatively strong oil film, thereby reducing the friction coefficient of the friction surface and minimizing wear. In addition, ester-based lubricating oil can maintain stable lubrication effects in both high and low temperature environments.
Ester-based lubricating oil also has good thermal stability and high-temperature resistance. Its flash point and autoignition point are higher than those of mineral oil of the same viscosity, and it has a wider operating temperature range and better thermal stability.
In terms of environmental protection, ester-based lubricating oil is derived from renewable resources such as natural oils and fats, and has good biodegradability. During its production process, through processes such as hydrogenation, transesterification and esterification reactions, its performance can be significantly improved, and some ester-based lubricating oils can be used as base oils for biodegradable oil products.
Ester-based lubricating oil is compatible with elastomers/sealing materials, has low swelling properties for nitrile rubber (NBR), fluorine rubber (FKM), etc., and reduces the risk of leakage (compared with mineral oil).
