Pour Point Depressant

Pour Point Depressant

Pour Point Depressant (PPD) is an additive commonly used in lubricating oil and fuel oil to improve the fluidity of the oil at low temperatures and prevent it from solidifying or losing its pumpability.

The Pour Point depressant reduces the pour point of the oil by changing the shape and size of the wax crystals and inhibiting the formation of a three-dimensional network structure of the wax crystals, thereby ensuring that it can still flow at low temperatures.

Core objective: To prevent the oil from becoming viscous and solidifying due to low-temperature wax crystallization, which could affect engine starting or equipment lubrication.

Key Functions

Lower the pour point: Keep the oil flowing at a lower temperature.

Improve low temperature pumping: prevent oil plug (such as engine cold start).

With base oil: need to match the wax content of base oil and the length of carbon chain.
