Mechanism of Action of Viscosity Index Improvers

Viscosity index improvers are used to improve the viscosity-temperature characteristics of oil products. In high shear zones, such as bearings, poor viscosity index improvers are sheared and broken, resulting in a decrease in viscosity index and viscosity.  

Viscosity index improvers are used in situations that require a high viscosity index, such as oil products with a wide temperature range; Viscosity index improvers are used to reduce viscosity changes caused by temperature variations.
